Japanese authorities found that most people aged 100 or older were actually dead and their kids were scamming their pension!



The Japanese certainly thought this until the police discovered a disturbing situation. They found the body of what was supposed to be one of Japan's oldest citizens mummified in his bed. He'd been dead there for nearly 30 years.In most societies, the elderly are honored and taken care of. In Japan, which is known for having many elderly citizens, you would think this would definitely be the case.
Upon further investigation, the police decided that his daughter had hidden his death so she could continue cashing his pension checks.
So the Japanese government decided to check in on some of their other elderly citizens. They found that 281 people who had been listed as 100 years old or older were missing.
Authorities are trying to figure out just how their government could lose track of hundreds of elderly. Large scale pension fraud is a possibility, but they believe it's more likely just sloppy record keeping.
